Patient Positioning

Patient lies prone, foot hanging out of the examination table.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a sagittal plane over the dorsal aspect of the hindfoot.

Note: Examine the calcanear insertion of the plantar fascia. Measure its diameter at the level of the calcanear tuberosity and compare it with the opposite side. Normal thickness is less than 0,45 cm. In general the gain has to be increased because of the thick plantar sole.
