Patient Positioning
Patient lies prone, leg in extended position. You may put a small pillow under the ankle.
Probe Positioning
Place the transducer on longitudinal plane over the lateral aspect of the dorsal joint on the long axis of the lateral head of gastrocnemius.
note: patient with persistent pain at the dorsal aspect of the knee after joint replacement. The origine is a painful fabella – found on the anterior gliding surface of the external head of the gastrocnemius muscle.
