Patient Positioning

Probe Positioning
Place the transducer on longitudinal planes over the joint from the ulnar aspect. Check the continuity of the ligament and – if torn, its position in relation to the adductor pollicis aponeurosis (normally deep to it)

ucoll: ulnar collateral ligament
Elderly patient after accident with his bike and contusion of the thumb. the ultrasound reveals a discontinuation of the ulnar collateral ligament at the 1st metacarpal joint with slippage of the torn end of the ulnar collateral ligament superficial to the adductor aponeurosis.
