Patient Positioning
Patient seated in front of the examiner, hand palm up resting on the examination table.
Probe Positioning
Place the transducer on a transverse plane over the wrist and move it ulnarly over the pisiform (landmark) and ulnar artery. The ulnar nerve is located between the ulnar artery and the pisiform. Move the probe distally to follow the nerve and examine its two branches (superficial sensory branch and the deep motor branch, which courses along the hamate hook).
