Anterior talofibular ligament
Patient Positioning
Patient lies supine with a small pillow under the dorsal aspect of the ankle. The ankle is lying on its medial aspect.
Probe Positioning
Place the transducer with its lateral part over the lateral malleolus and rotate its anterior part in direction to the talus till the anterior talofibular ligament is seen.
Anterior tibiofibular ligament
Patient Positioning
Patient lies supine with a small pillow under the dorsal aspect of the ankle. The ankle is lying on its medial aspect.
Probe Positioning
Place the transducer with its lateral part over the lateral malleolus and rotate its anterior part upwards over the tibia till the anterior tibiofibular ligament is seen.
Calcaneofibular ligament
Patient Positioning
Patient lies supine with a small pillow under the dorsal aspect of the ankle. The ankle is lying on its medial aspect, foot is dorsiflexed.
Probe Positioning
Place the transducer with its upper part over the lateral malleolus and rotate it slightly posterior to reach the heel.
